Technology helps lifts scale new heights

Lift maker Kone has developed an ultra-strong, carbon-fibre rope which will allow elevators to go higher than is currently possible with conventional steel ropes. The weight of steel cables means it is not feasible for elevators to travel more than 500m (1,640 ft) in height. via Pocket http://ift.tt/1JS0zQy
